Happy Love of Reading Week!

Reflections:
Love of Reading week is here! Please make note of all the fun activities we have planned.

Important Dates:
2-15-10 thru 2-18-10 Love of Reading Week
2-18-10 Skate Night
2-24-10 Grandparents’ Day
2-25-10 and 2-26-10 Rodeo Break, No School.
3-05-10 Last Day for Homework to be turned in for third quarter.
3-11-10 End of third quarter. Report cards go home. It is a ½ day, no after school, or lunch.
3-12-10 to 3-15-10 Spring Recess, No school.
4-01-10 to 4-05-10 Easter Break, No School.

New Info:
Thank you so much for all the great Valentine’s Day gifts. They made me feel very special!

Love of Reading Week Events:
2-15-10 Teachers switch rooms to read.
2-16-10 P.J. Day, and bring favorite book for reading time.
2-17-10 Bookmark making day.
2-18-10 Poem in a Pocket
2-19-10 Dress as a character from your favorite book, and bring a copy of the book to school.

Grandparents’ Day is 02-24-10, from 9:30am-11:30am. The school must be notified if your child will have a grandparent at school on this day. This will allow the school to have enough food for everyone. I am looking forward to seeing all the grandparents!

Some students are becoming lax about turning in homework on time. As a result, they are having so much to do during Homework Club, they are not finishing all their work. This is causing them to fall behind, and will effect their grade. Friday, March 5, 2010 is the last day assignments may be submitted for credit this quarter.

Reminders:
Rodeo Break is February 25, 2010 and February 26, 2010. There will be no school on these two days.

Talent Show auditions are in February. Keep practicing!

Students should be reading a minimum of 1 hour a week. Each reading session should be recorded on the reading log, and submitted to me on Friday.

I encourage you to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns. You may call the school to set up an appointment, or email me at mpelchy@cox.net. View my blog at http:mrspelchy.blogspot.com/ for
