There are only two weeks of school left, and we have a lot planned. One of the things we are finishing is our inventor and explorer reports. We have been having a lot of fun finding out the details about some of history’s amazing people.

Important Dates:
5-26-10 Yearbook signing party
5-28-10 Last day of school

New Info:
We will be having a party on the last day of school. Students may bring a snack of their choice to share with others. They may also bring a board game, or similar activity, of their choice to play with others. Please do not bring any electronic games.

The last week of school will be very busy. Please contact me before then if you have any questions or concerns about your child’s academics.

If your student will not be at school on the last day of school please bring me a note asking for the report card to be sent home on Thursday, 5-27-10. Otherwise, report cards will be sent home with the student on Friday, 5-28-10, or mailed to the address on file in the event the student is absent.

Reminders:
The last day of school is 5-28-10. This will be a half day with no after school or lunch. All students should be picked up promptly at 11:30 a.m.

We will be having regular classroom academics through 5-21-10. At that time, all homework assignments are due. Nothing will be accepted after that date. After that date, all classroom activities will be review activities.

Our classroom desperately needs pencils, facial tissue, and disinfectant wipes. We do NOT have enough of these items to last for the rest of the year. Please send these items to school as soon as possible. Thank you to those of you who have already helped us.
As the weather is getting warmer, I recommend that all students bring a water bottle to school. They may keep it on their desk.

Students should be reading a minimum of 1 hour a week. Each reading session should be recorded on the reading log, and submitted to me on Friday. 05-23-10 is the last day for the reading logs to be turned in.

I encourage you to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns. You may call the school to set up an appointment, or email me at pelchym@yahoo.com or view my blog at http:mrspelchy.blogspot.com/ for
updates and current information.

“You cannot put the same shoe on every foot.” Publius Syrus

Have a great week!

Mrs. Pelchy

Happy Monday!

Reflections:
This was another great week full of interesting activities. I hope you all enjoy the Spring Break, and come back refreshed for the fourth quarter!

Important Dates:
3-11-10 End of third quarter. Report cards go home. It is a ½ day, no after school, or lunch.
3-12-10 to 3-15-10 Spring Recess, No school.
3-16-10 Skate Night at Skate Country
4-01-10 to 4-05-10 Easter Break, No School.

New Info:
Congratulations to everyone who competed in the Spelling Bee. You all did a fantastic job! And congratulations to Martin Rascon for his second place win!

The quarter is officially over Thursday, 3-11-10. This is a half day. Students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m., and there will be no lunch or after school.

Report cards will be issued on 3-11-10. Please sign and return the enclosed form signifying receipt of the report card, and indicate whether you wish to have a conference when school resumes after the break.

There will be no school due to our Spring Break, 3-12-10 to 3-15-10. School will resume on Tuesday, 3-16-10.

We will be completing assignments this week, which will be applied to the fourth quarter. Any missed assignments will need to be completed and turned in for credit.

On St. Patrick’s Day, 3-17-10, students may wear a green shirt and jeans, or the school uniform to school.

The Talent Show will be the week of 3-22-10.

There has been an increase in absences this quarter. For the most part, students are completing work that they missed. Unfortunately, when students are not able to be at school for the original class instruction and activities, they often struggle with the material. As all material is based on prior information, and is support for subsequent information, missing a class day can affect a students performance.

Reminders:
Students should be reading a minimum of 1 hour a week. Each reading session should be recorded on the reading log, and submitted to me on Friday.

I encourage you to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns. As a result, they are having so much to do during Homework Club, they are not finishing all their work. This is causing them to fall behind, and will affect their grade. Friday, 03-05-2010 is the last day assignments may be submitted for credit this quarter. Students have received all missing assignments a minimum of three times, by the end of the week they are issued. Additional copies will not be made unless requested.
